From 1965 until 1970, The Yellow Payges were arguably one of the most recognizable and well-known groups on the Sunset Strip. Having been the featured house band at the Hullabaloo Club, they performed with some of the most well known groups of the day including The Doors, The Yardbirds, The Monkees, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Burdon and The Animals, The Turtles, The Beach Boys, Canned Heat, The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, Paul Butterfield, Jefferson Airplane and many more.
In addition to appearaning on American Bandstand, in 1967, the Summer of Love, The Yellow Payges went on their first national tour as part of Dick Clark's Happening '67, a package tour which traveled to 45 U.S. cities in 45 days. Later, in August 1968, The Yellow Payges played their biggest-ever show, appearing at the Hollywood Bowl on a bill headlined by Eric Burdon and The Animals, The Rascals and Tommy James & the Shondells. They continued to tour the United States, Canada and Mexico until they disbanded in 1970.
In 2012, The Yellow Payges continue to reach an appreciative audience. They have been written about on several music websites, were featured in Shindig Magazine, and are represented on Rhino Records' highly praised Los Angeles Nuggets boxed set, Where The Action Is.
It's been 42 years since The Yellow Payges last performed. Well, all that's about to change as original band mates Danny Gorman, Michael Rummans, Bill Ham and Daniel Hortter will once again be pounding out those electrifying hard rock sounds they were so well known for along with several cuts from their 1969 Album, The Yellow Payges - Volume I.
